Amazon has cloned an entire neighborhood in an effort to test delivery robots

Amazon’s customer obsession has been well documented - and it’s one of their core leadership principles. in an effort get product in the hands of shoppers more quickly, the retailer is always experimenting with new delivery models.

Scout robots is one of many examples - small, semi-autonomous (for now) roving robots that can deliver packages directly to your door. To make sure the robots can safely navigate a variety of neighborhoods, Amazon: a) has build an incredibly detailed model of test neighborhoods, and it runs robots through those virtual simulations, and b) has been pairing robots with a human chaperone.

It’s an interesting glimpse into a potential future of package delivery, thanks to a detailed piece in Wired.
