eMarketer highlights a few interesting milestones for mobile in 2019…

Firstly, mobile edged out TV in 2019 as the channel where US adults spent the most time. This shift has been coming for a long time and while not a dramatic difference, it is helping to drive growth in mobile ad spend, which eMarketer pegs at nearly $100 billion in the U.S.

The launch of 5G networks by all four major U.S. carriers marks another significant milestone. Coverage is spotty thus far and there are only a handful of 5G-capable handsets on the market, but that will change over the next few years and the resulting combination of speed, capacity and low latency will unlock a new era of mobile-driven transformation.
